Takoyaki Yatai

Created by extraevildave and came 2nd in our our Copy It Competition.

This entry is a 28mm scale Yatai (a temporary Japanese food stall), in this case one selling Takoyaki (a fried octopus based snack) and also selling Sake.

The main structure is made of 3mm balsa with 1.5mm balsa used for the counter top and the roof. The windows/light boxes are 3mm balsa, card and flyscreen mesh. The lanterns are wooden skewers wrapped in a printout of the Kanji characters for Takoyaki and Sake, the banner also says Takoyaki.
The Grill is made of card and flyscreen, and the takoyaki trays are made from fine granny grating. The castor wheels are small beads and card. Finally the Sake cask is made from an 8mm bead wrapped in a a label made by printing copies of an actual sake cask label.
The body of the yatai was coloured with a mahogany stain and the roof with a ceder stain.
The entire thing stands 55mm high, 55mm wide, (68 if including the handle) and 25mm deep (35mm if measuring the roof width).
